Basis: Amide local anesthetics are not metabolized to PABA. Cross-reactivity between amide agents is rare, and there is NO cross-reactivity between ester and amide groups.

Notes: Cross-reactivity among amides is rare and no ester-amide cross-reactivity occurs. True IgE-mediated LA allergy is rare (<1%); most reactions are caused by methylparaben. Do not give a binary safe/allergic answer; consult a specialist.
